Amco Recruitment Agency, based in north London, was set up to deliver healthcare and ICT training to introduce trainees to the foundation areas within the care profession, thus enabling them to enter employment in healthcare sectors. This project was awarded a grant from the GLE Fast Forward Grants programme.
The three-month grant allowed the project to train 17 trainees, provide equipment, and enable staff to support the beneficiaries outside of sessions.
Accredited by CLAIT, the ICT course introduced students to the components of a computer system, file management, spreadsheets and databases.
After the project's closure, nine people progressed onto employment, two are now volunteering at Amco to gain experience and more skills, and others hope to progress onto NVQ level two in healthcare.
