Anthony Clarke - Managing Director
Anthony qualified as a chartered accountant with Deloitte Haskins & Sells (now PWC) in the late 1970's and soon after as a chartered secretary. Thereafter, he worked on a full time basis as a finance director and chief executive of a number of privately owned SME companies and since 1995 he has been a business angel investor/non executive director of six start up/early stage businesses.

Anthony is managing director of GLE Growth Capital which includes London Business Angels and its sister company London Seed Capital. He is also managing director of the UK’s first Enterprise Capital Fund - Seraphim Capital. He is chairman of British Business Angels Association (BBAA) and president of European Business Angels Network (EBAN). Anthony also holds a position on the board of CASI (Council for Advancement of Science and Industry for London).

 

Robert Desborough - Investment Manager

Rob Desborough graduated from the University of Glasgow with a Bsc (Hons) in Biomedical Science followed by a Postgraduate Diploma in Information Technology Systems and Business. Having founded his own digital media technology company in 2000 he went on to work for a strategic marketing company specialising in pre IPO, venture capital backed, silicon valley technology companies looking to move into the European market. During his time in silicon valley he was awarded employee of the year. Prior to joining London Seed Capital in 2006 he was the market analyst for the University of Ulster’s technology transfer and new ventures vehicle ‘UUTech’ where he analysed and managed ‘Proof of Concept’ and seed stage investments in IP led businesses. Rob is also a member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing and sits on the board of portfolio company Primal Soup. Rob joined GLE in February 2006 as part of the London Seed Capital fund management team and is the London Business Angels gatekeeper.

Lucy Williams, Investor Relations Manager
Lucy has gained a BSc (Hons) in Sociology and Criminal Justice from Plymouth University and she also gained an Executive Personal Assistants Diploma from Cornwall College. Her previous roles have been mainly secretarial and customer service based and she has also worked abroad in the corporate hospitality industry. Lucy is responsible for administration and is part of the events team.

Liz Carrington - EventsManager
Liz has gained a BA (Hons) in International Business from the University of Lincoln and also has a BA in International Business from the Auckland University of Technology. She has worked as an administrator within a number of small businesses and has gained a significant amount of experience organising large national events. Liz currently runs the British Business Angels Association – the UK trade association for all business angel networks - and also manages London Business Angels’ events including the training of entrepreneurs before they present to investors.
