North London Pledge

Funded by the London Development Agency, the North London Pledge provides employment support and skills training across three of the north London boroughs: Haringey, Waltham Forest and Enfield. The delivery of this project came to an end on 31st March 2010 and was replaced by a continuation project, North London Pledge 2.

The second phase of this project has very different objectives however, and aims to secure sustained employment for the longer term unemployed. The London borough of Haringey are the lead partner in this programme, with delivery also in the boroughs of Waltham Forest, Enfield and Barnet. This programme commenced in February 2010, and will continue until 31st August 2011.

What we have delivered?

• we have monitored the providers and audited their outputs, allowing us to compile quarterly reports which are consistent, timely and accurate
• we supervise the complete financial management of the programme, controlling the amount paid to providers
• through our knowledge of employment programmes, we encourage partnership working at feedback sessions at providers meetings
• we give feedback to Haringey Council on any delivery or procedural concerns, and due to our experiences in contract management can often suggest how processes can be improved

In addition to our monitoring contract, GLE have also been commissioned to deliver capacity building training sessions to our client and their providers.
