School-Business Partnership
Young people need to be equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills to prepare them for the world of work and the world at large. The best way to do this is by bringing the curriculum subjects to life by making them relevant. In order to do so, various partners need to be involved in the education process. The corporate sector has a wealth of knowledge and skills which can assist young people in understanding subject matter and relating it to the world in which they live. Corporate volunteers are also an excellent pool of role models for young people.
Case study:
The following case study highlights the process and working relationship between GLE oneLondon, Clyde & Co. and Charles Edward Brooke School, to effectively develop a school-business partnership.

The results:
After much investigation with teachers, businesses, education and youth focused organisations, all parties agreed there was an urgent need for a toolkit to highlight best practice with relevant case studies.
GLE oneLondon worked in partnership with the London Central Education Business Alliance as well as businesses, education focused organisations and teachers to develop the “School Business Partnership Toolkit”. The toolkit was launched with the support of City Action and part sponsored by the Department for Children, Schools and Families.
The School Business Partnership Toolkit provides schools with an understanding of how to build valuable relationships with the corporate sector, while also providing businesses with advice and information on how to approach schools.
“This is a user-friendly, to-thepoint guide that provides you with the right type of information to set up a relationship with a business where everyone benefits,” says one teacher.
