Are you interested in accessing EU funding for local projects in your borough?

The European Commission offers funding opportunities for the development and delivery of innovative projects that address social exclusion and economic development. In order to spread best practice, encourage cross fertilisation of ideas and reduce duplication, there is an increasing focus on transnational projects.

What is a transnational project?

Transnational projects are projects that operate simultaneously across more than one country.
Examples of funding streams that have encouraged this approach are: EQUAL, LEONARDO and INTERREG.

What makes a successful transnational project?

A successful project will identify similar, but not necessarily identical, economic and social needs in several countries. Partnerships will be developed between the cities or regions to enable quality project delivery. This simultaneous delivery allows comparisons to be drawn between approaches to work.

As each partner develops best practice, the knowledge is shared to promote innovation. Another important element of transnational projects is dissemination: the lessons learned and the findings are shared with the relevant policy-makers, agencies and organisations within each of the participating countries.
